I am sure your mouth must be watering now and you are desperate to know how to make these waffles at home. Well, unlike to the common belief that waffles are difficult to make, let me tell they are extremely simple and are not all time consuming. The only thing you have to keep in mind while preparing waffles is that they should be golden brown in color with the consistency of a light moist cake inside and lightly crisp on the outside. So without delaying, let us move on to some basic and easy homemade waffle recipes.

Homemade Waffle Recipe from Scratch

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup flour (½ whole wheat flour and ½ white flour)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1⅓ cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 ½ tbsp butter (melted)
  • ¼ tsp pure vanilla
Preparation:

Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl and then separately combine the liquid ingredients in another bowl. Slowly add the dry ingredients in to the liquid mixture, mixing constantly with a fork to avoid any lump formations. Now pour the batter on to a preheated waffle maker, set on medium to medium-high heat. The batter should properly cover the surface but make sure it does not leak from the sides. You can use measuring cups for better measurements. Bake the waffles for the recommended amount of time and serve.

Homemade Waffle Recipe without Milk

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp raw sugar
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp safflower or other neutral tasting oil
  • 7 oz soymilk
  • 1 egg
Preparation:

Take a mixing bowl and mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine all liquid ingredients and egg. Now pour the liquid ingredients in to the dry ingredients and beat well or until no lumps remain. For better flavor and texture, allow the batter to rest for a few minutes. Preheat the waffle maker at medium to medium-high heat and once it is ready, pour about half a cup of the batter into the center and press close. Remove the waffle after 3-4 minutes or when the light indicates that it is ready. Keep the baked waffle on the serving plate, add more batter to the waffle maker and repeat the process until no batter remains. More on how to make waffles.
